    Terms of Use

    Last updated: May 31, 2026 · Effective immediately

    The agreement between you and Find You Media for using findyou.ca — including how we work as a documentary publisher, our stance on free expression, and how to raise a concern about footage.

    Acceptance of these terms

    findyou.ca is operated by Find You Media Corporation ("Find You Media," "we," "us," "our"). By accessing or using the site, subscribing, submitting a form, or joining a messaging or directory program, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

    About findyou.ca

    findyou.ca is the publishing house of Find You Media — a documentary art housetelling true, evergreen stories about the people and places of the Fraser Valley and beyond, through writing, photography, and film. The site is hosted on and powered by P/LATFRM.

    Our work, art & freedom of expression

    Find You Media is a documentary art house, not a news agency. We don't report the news. We make enduring, evergreen documentary artwork — finding the story and the people behind it, what we think of as a wedge and a weave. We work with artists as often as with journalists, and we treat what we make as works of art.

    Our work is artistic and expressive, and is protected as freedom of expression — which expressly includes artistic expression — under section 2(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and comparable protections elsewhere. We make our own creative and editorial decisions in good faith and stay independent of any sponsor or advertiser.

    For clarity: although a piece may occasionally be timely or coincide with current events, our purpose is enduring artwork, not news reporting. Nothing on findyou.ca should be read to characterize Find You Media as a "news outlet," "news business," "news organization," "digital news intermediary," or journalistic undertaking as those terms are used in regulatory regimes, and we do not hold ourselves out as one. We claim the full protections of free expression while declining to be treated, regulated, or investigated as a news entity.

    We publish lawful, truthful work and stand behind it. We do not remove such work simply because its subject, or a third party, dislikes it, disagrees with it, or finds it unflattering. Requests to suppress lawful expression are declined unless a genuine, specific case is made — see Requests to review or remove.

    Filming "Scenes" in public

    "Scenes" are our short, vertical films and reels; we also produce short and feature documentaries. To make them, we record photography and video — often in public places.

    • We identify ourselves. Where we film, we make our presence and purpose known as a documentary crew.
    • Public spaces. We capture in places where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. People who appear in the frame in those settings may be included in our published work.
    • If you end up on film in public, that comes with being in a public space — but we still want to hear from you. If you have a genuine concern, you can write to us with your reasons and we will consider it in good faith (see below).
    • We do not knowingly publish footage obtained unlawfully, taken in private spaces without consent, or that exposes someone to a serious, identifiable risk of harm.

    Requests to review or remove

    We believe in standing behind our work, and in being reachable about it. Those two things sit together here.

    General rule: requests to take down or alter lawfully published work arerefused — unless you can make a real case. Disliking, disagreeing with, or being embarrassed by accurate work is not, on its own, a basis for removal.

    Grounds we will seriously consider

    • a genuine and specific safety risk to an identifiable person (for example, survivors of violence, or risk of exposure);
    • a clear factual error we should correct;
    • footage taken unlawfully or in a private space without consent;
    • a depiction of a minor where a parent or guardian raises a reasonable concern;
    • a valid legal right (such as a court order or a legitimate privacy/IP claim).

    How to ask

    Email legal@findyou.media with: a link to the specific work, the exact moment or detail at issue, and your reasons. We review every good-faith request, weigh it against the public interest and our right to publish, and reply with our decision — which may be to remove, edit, add context or a correction, or decline. We aim to acknowledge requests promptly and respond within a reasonable time.

    Your submissions & nominations

    When you nominate someone, send a tip, or otherwise submit content to us, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you grant Find You Media a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it to consider, develop, and (where appropriate) publish related stories. Please don't submit confidential information you don't have the right to share. When you nominate another person, share only what is fair and reasonable; we contact subjects directly before featuring them.

    Members, accounts & no back doors

    No back doors. We do not build hidden access into our systems, and we do not give any third party — whether a private party or an authority — covert, routine, or bulk access to our members, subscribers, sources, or their information. We disclose member information only when compelled by valid, specific, and lawful legal process, and then only as narrowly as the law requires. Protecting the people who trust us — members and subjects alike — is part of the work.

    Accounts & comments (coming later). findyou.ca does not currently offer user accounts or logins. We may introduce them in the future so people can interact with pieces and leave comments. If and when we do, additional account terms and community guidelines will apply: you'll be responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure, and any comment or contribution you post will be your responsibility and subject to these terms. We may moderate, edit, or remove contributions that break our guidelines or the law.
